Si senza la cartella va, però se li ricopio mi va di nuovo a donnine allegre. Provo a fare una cosa ancora e poi vedo se risolvo. Se no mi scrivo a parte i preferiti, quello che avevo installato in più, mi faccio uno screenshot delle password salvate e mi reimposto tutto da capo. Almeno evito di reinstallare (ma il backup lo faccio lo stesso per sicurezza). Grazie mille

Reinstallare non fa niente di piu` (in questo caso) che cancellare la directory .mozilla

i bookmarks sono salvati in un file (bookmarks.html), le password non so.

Nomi utente e password sono nel file signons3.txt (cifrati ovviamente).

I segnalibri ho comunque dovuto caricarli dal backup di ieri che mi aveva fatto firefox (un file .json).

Appunto, non avresti alcun vantaggio, perche` l'unica cosa che ti si e` incasinata e` la tua cartella di configurazione.

EDIT: per Elayne, installare programmi che non sono nell'installer di ubuntu e` normalmente un casino.

Si`. con sudo non riesci a scriverlo? Non e` che hai il filesystem montato read-only per qualche motivo? controlla sia lanciando mount che nei log del kernel, perche` potrebbe averlo rimontato lui ro per qualche motivo e non fartelo vedere.

L'utilizzo sarebbe prevalentemente programmare dei pic in cantina, forse fare qualche schematico, nulla di eccessivo comunque.

avevo fatto un pensiero sulla Kubuntu 8.04.2 , ma temo che kde mi sia troppo pesante su una macchina così obsoleta e vecchiotta...

Oppure se ubuntu non dovesse andre bene c'è sempre Dreamlinux http://www.dreamlinux.com.br/ che supporta anche il desktop Xfce, molto più leggero e meno esigente di gnome.

Ho installato su un vecchio pc della hyundai fluxbuntu, simpatica distro davvero davvero molto leggera anche se un pochettino ostica in quanto usa come window manager fluxbox, niente gnome o kde o E17.

Comunque il problema è questo ho comprato un Box esterno, così da far diventare il mio vecchio HD interno, esterno. sull'altro computer con ubuntu 8.10 va una bellezza qui invece trovo qualche difficoltà.

Oggi al lavoro è venuto uno che conosco a farmi vedere un dell di quelli da 9 pollici che ha comprato da noi.

Lo accende e... figata, compare la mela di apple. Ha installato (con due chiavette usb in contemporanea) mac Os leopard 10.5.6 (se non erro).

E lui.... andiamo a bere una birra e in un'ora facciamo tutto anche sul tuo se vuoi.

Mi spiega che bisgona fare qualche trucco, far girare Darwin ecc ecc, poi mi dice che però l'istallazione prende tutti gli 8 giga di memoria del portatile, anzi ce ne vorrebbero di più e bisogna fare dei giochetti e indurlo in errore appositamente per fare in modo da far entrare tutto in 8 Gb. Solo dopo si può levare fuffa (ad esempio le millemila limgue inutili e altre robe) che portano l'istallazione a occupare circa 6 giga e mezzo.

Ora mi chiedo due cose.

Primo: possibile che un sistema operativo occupi otto e dico OTTO Gb?

Secondo: Qualcuno sa se è possibile ridurre la cosa e se soprattutto sia possibile fare questa procedura partizionando l'HD senza toccare ubuntu che ho già dentro, visto che sembra che il boot loader di mac sia invasivo come quello di win e che accetti un secondo SO solo DOPO aver insallato lui?

Insomma fare il dual boot ma senza formattare tutto per poi arrivare ad avere entrambi gli SO dentro.

EDIT: ora che ricordo mi ha parlato anche di una versione di leopard per epia quindi più leggera, ma dice con molte meno funzionalità dell'So completo. Che ne dite?

ah l'hd interno divenuto poi esterno era un maxtor, lo specifico cperchè ho visto comparire questo nome verso la fine del dmesg.

Il disco lo vede, ma non viene montato automaticamente, cerca nella documentazione come si abilita l'automount (dovrebbe essere abilitato di default).

Ho aggiornato ubuntu in mattinata alla 9.04

Funziona tutto correttamente, se escludiamo il fatto che ora il terminale root non si apre più; mi da il programma in apertura ma poi non mi da la finestra. Mi era estremamente comodo per aprire la connessione internet.

C'è qualcuno che può darmi una mano?

Anche a me ha dato dei problemi. gscan2pdf non funzionava più. Devo mandare i comandi dal terminale se avvio dalla finestra principale dell'eeepc non mi cava fuori nulla.

Altro problema: in linux voglio salvare una pagina web (con tutte le estensioni, immagini etc...). La pagina è: http://www.geocities.com/danger_dungeon/

Indagato più a fondo il problema:

Knetworkmanager non parte più automaticamente, lanciandolo dal menu delle applicazioni non fa niente, se provo a lanciarlo dal terminale traccheggia un po', poi parte un'altra cosa che non mi ricordo cos'è, e sembra partire (pur restandomi senza icona nella barra delle applicazioni).

Se provo a creare una nuova connessione, mi esclude la possibilità wireless...eppure i driver per la scheda wifi li avevo installati nella versione precedente...
